Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin on Monday morning at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.During the meeting, President Xi stated that since the beginning of this year, China–Russia relations have continued to advance steadily toward high-level and high-quality development, despite a turbulent external environment. He emphasized that maintaining, consolidating, and developing the China–Russia partnership is a strategic choice for both nations.
“President Putin and I have met twice this year — in Moscow and in Beijing — where we held in-depth exchanges on strategic and comprehensive issues concerning our bilateral relations and made new plans and arrangements,” Xi said. “Both sides should maintain close coordination, implement the important consensus reached between President Putin and myself, focus on the fundamental interests of our peoples, expand areas of cooperation, and make new and greater contributions to global peace and development.”
President Xi stressed that the two countries should continue to expand mutual investment and deepen cooperation in traditional sectors such as energy, connectivity, agriculture, and space. He also called for exploring cooperation in emerging fields like artificial intelligence, the digital economy, and green development — creating new growth drivers for future collaboration. Xi added that China will continue to advance its own Chinese path to modernization, promote high-quality economic and social development, and expand high-level opening-up. He expressed China’s willingness to align its 15th Five-Year Plan more closely with Russia’s economic and social development strategies for the shared benefit of both peoples.
Prime Minister Mishustin conveyed warm greetings from President Vladimir Putin to President Xi. He congratulated China on the successful convening of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, expressing confidence that China will achieve the goals set out in its 15th Five-Year Plan and make further strides in economic and social progress.
Mishustin added that Russia is ready to work with China to implement the important consensus between the two heads of state, deepen cooperation in trade, science and technology, energy, agriculture, and the digital economy, as well as strengthen multilateral coordination and cooperation — thereby achieving even greater progress in bilateral relations.
