The United States has provided $ 20 million in financial assistance to strengthen the ‘political land’. The country’s new office, Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) said on February 6 that USAID’s assistance was canceled for Bangladesh. However, who or who received this assistance was not clarified.
US President Donald Trump has opened his mouth with $ 2o million to Bangladesh. At a function organized by the country’s governors on Friday (February 26th), Trump said, “$ 29 million has gone to a company to strengthen the political arena in Bangladesh. Nobody ever heard the name. They’ve got the check. Can you think? You have small organizations. You get 3 thousand here, get one lakh there. We got $ 29 million from the US government (to give Bangladesh). Only two work in that organization. I think they are very happy, they are very rich. A few days later, their pictures will be published in a big magazine to become a great person. ”
He added, “Bangladesh has been given $ 20 million to strengthen the political arena. No one knows what this political system is. What does it mean? ”
Donald Trump also claimed that $ 29 million has been paid to encourage voting in India. He said, “And $ 20 million is going (gone) to bring my friend to Prime Minister Modi to the polling station. We are giving India $ 29 million for that. What about us (say)? I also want voters’ presence in the polling station. ”
Meanwhile, it is not yet clear that any Bangladeshi company has received $ 29 million from the United States. However, on Thursday, the Indian media Indian Express claimed in a report that India did not get any money from the United States for elections. They say Bangladesh was given $ 29 million in 2022. The media claimed that the USAID first provided this assistance under the ‘My Vote Me’ project in July 2022 and later under the ‘Citizen Project’.
