One hundred thousand people have marched in the Netherlands demanding a tough stance from the Dutch government against the Israeli occupation war in Gaza. The unprecedented demonstration was held in the city of The Hague on Sunday. Organizers said that about one hundred thousand protesters joined the march. Most of them wore red clothes and demanded that a ‘red line’ be set against Israel’s blockade of Gaza.
The march also went before the International Court of Justice. In this court, South Africa filed a case against Israel, accusing it of genocide. In that case, the court ordered an end to the military offensive in the southern Gaza city of Rafah last year. However, Zionist Israel dismissed the genocide accusation as baseless. In the court, it argued that its operation in Gaza was in self-defense and targeted Hamas fighters who attacked Israel on October 7.
The protest organiser, Oxfam Novib, said the Dutch government had ignored Israel’s war crimes in Gaza. Earlier this month, Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp said he wanted the EU to renegotiate its cooperation agreement with Israel. But the Dutch government has so far refrained from harsh criticism of Israel, and Geert Wilders, the leader of the largest party in the government coalition, has repeatedly expressed his unwavering support for Israel.
