Ukrainian Drone Strike Hits Major Oil Refinery in Southern Russia

Ukraine’s military has carried out a drone attack on a strategically important oil refinery in southern Russia, triggering fires at multiple facilities and injuring two workers, Russian authorities said.

The target of the strike was the Tuapse oil refinery, located on the Black Sea coast in Russia’s Krasnodar region, approximately 350 kilometers from Ukrainian territory.

In a statement posted on Telegram, the Krasnodar branch of the Russian military said the drone attack sparked fires across an area of about 3,229 square feet within and around the refinery. While emergency services were able to bring the blaze under control, officials acknowledged that the facility sustained significant damage. No detailed assessment of the losses was immediately disclosed.

The Tuapse refinery, owned by state oil giant Rosneft, is considered one of the largest and most strategically vital energy installations in the Black Sea and Sea of Azov region.

Videos circulating widely on Ukrainian social media appeared to show large fires engulfing parts of the refinery during the night, underscoring the scale of the attack.

However, Ukraine’s government and defense forces have not yet issued any official comment on the incident.

The strike comes amid the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, now entering its fourth year. Russia has repeatedly targeted Ukraine’s power generation and electricity supply infrastructure, while Ukraine has increasingly responded by striking Russian oil extraction and refining facilities.
