Bangladesh Moves to Strengthen International Acceptance of E-Apostille Certificates

15 September : An inter-ministerial meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday to further strengthen the acceptance of Bangladeshi certificates authenticated through the e-Apostille process.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid Islam, MP, chaired the meeting, which was attended by senior officials from 26 government ministries, divisions, directorates and offices.

The meeting discussed measures to strengthen verification of original certificates, bring relevant issuing authorities into the e-Apostille process, and enhance coordination among concerned government offices and Bangladesh missions abroad.

Ensuring the international acceptance and credibility of Bangladeshi certificates, while providing citizens with faster and more reliable services, was the main focus of the discussions.

Since the launch of Bangladesh’s e-Apostille service on 30 March 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued more than 2.9 million apostille certificates.

The service covers a wide range of documents, including educational certificates, police clearance certificates, medical certificates, marriage and birth certificates, experience certificates and National Identity Cards.

The online service, introduced through the MyGov platform, has significantly reduced the inconvenience faced by citizens while saving both time and money.
