The incident reportedly took place at a field in the Bogidhala area of Numaligarh in Golaghat district, Assam. In the viral footage, a wild elephant can be seen playing with a football on a lush green field.
The elephant rolls the ball with its trunk and occasionally kicks it with its feet. After kicking the ball away, it uses its trunk to stop and control it again. Whenever the ball rolls farther away, the elephant runs after it.
At one point, the ball moves some distance away while the elephant is playing. Several people standing nearby then run towards it to retrieve the ball, apparently intending to play with it themselves. But the elephant appears unwilling to give up possession.
The elephant also runs after the ball and ultimately wins the contest for it. It then wraps its trunk around the ball and resumes playing on its own, while the people remain spectators.
The amusing sight of the wild elephant enthusiastically running around and playing football has delighted viewers. Several people captured the unusual moment on camera before the video was posted on social media, where it quickly spread.
