Saudi Arabia has provided $30 million in aid to the Palestinian Authority. Saudi Arabia said that this money has been provided as part of its support for the Palestinian government, which is facing a financial crisis. On Thursday, local time, the Charge d’Affaires of the Saudi Embassy in the Jordanian capital Amman, Mohammed Munis, handed over the funds to the Palestinian Finance Minister Omar al-Bitar. Finance Minister al-Bitar expressed deep gratitude to Saudi Arabia for this assistance.
He praised the leadership of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and said that Saudi Arabia’s continued political and economic support for the independence and state rights of the Palestinian people is highly commendable.
According to a report by the Palestine News Agency, this financial assistance is helping the Palestinian Authority maintain the health and education sectors. The funds are being used to run hospitals, purchase medicines and medical equipment, keep schools open, and pay salaries to doctors, teachers, and administrative staff.
According to the Saudi aid agency KS Relief, Saudi Arabia has provided more than $5.3 billion in aid to the Palestinian people in 289 projects over the past few years.
