For the first time in three years, the two warring countries, Russia and Ukraine, are going to hold peace talks.
Delegations from the two countries will meet in the Turkish capital Istanbul on Friday.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will not be present at the peace talks. The Kremlin has announced that Vladimir Putin will not participate in the talks. In protest of his absence, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has also announced his decision not to attend the talks.
According to media reports, a Ukrainian delegation met with the security advisers of Britain, the United States, Germany and France in Istanbul on Friday morning. The delegation includes Ukrainian National Security Advisor Andriy Yermak, Foreign Minister Andriy Saybiha and Defense Minister Rustam Umerov.
Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said he was not optimistic that there would be any major progress in the Ukraine-Russia peace talks to be held in Turkey. Source: BBC
