Russia launches largest drone strike in Ukraine

A woman was killed and at least three others were injured in a Russian drone strike in the Ukrainian capital Kiev. According to a BBC News report, the attacks were mainly in the Kiev, Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk regions.

The Ukrainian Air Force said that Russia sent 273 drones at once on Sunday morning. This is the largest attack since the war began in 2022.

Earlier, Russia launched an attack using 267 drones on February 23, just before the third anniversary of the full-scale invasion in 2022.

The Ukrainian Air Force said that 88 Russian drones were destroyed and 128 ‘simulator drones’ lost their way and crashed, but did not hit any targets.

For the first time in almost three years, Russia carried out this attack during direct peace talks between Russia and Ukraine.

A 28-year-old woman was killed in a drone strike in the Obukhiv district of the Kiev region, authorities said. A four-year-old child was also among the injured, authorities said.

“A woman was tragically killed in an enemy attack in the Obukhiv district,” Kyiv region Governor Mykola Kalashnikov said in a telegram.

Russia carried out a drone strike on a bus in Ukraine’s Sumy region on Saturday. Authorities said nine civilians were killed in the strike. Moscow, however, claimed that the attack was aimed at a military gathering.
