Prime Minister Tarique Rahman Addresses First Session of the 13th National Parliament

Today, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman delivered his inaugural address at the first session of the 13th National Parliament. The session began shortly before 11:15 a.m. with a recitation from the Holy Quran, honoring all martyrs and heroes from the 1971 Liberation War to the present day.

Upon arriving at the parliament building in the morning, the Prime Minister exchanged warm and heartfelt greetings with Members of Parliament. His speech touched on the current political situation, the safeguarding of democratic aspirations, addressing the hopes and expectations of the people, and the implementation of public welfare initiatives in accordance with the constitution.

In the February 12 parliamentary elections, the BNP secured an absolute national victory, and for the first time, they assumed the position of the governmental party. During the opening session, President Md. Sahabuddin also delivered a speech in accordance with constitutional protocol.

Political analysts suggest that this session could become a focal point for debate, particularly regarding the implementation of constitutional proposals in July’s National Assembly and potential objections raised by opposition parties.
