Bangladesh Seeks Closer Cooperation with China in Modernization and Infrastructure Development

Bangladesh has expressed strong interest in deepening cooperation with China in the areas of modernization and infrastructure development, placing particular emphasis on China’s policy directions highlighted during the ongoing “Two Sessions” in Beijing.

Bangladesh’s Ambassador to China, Md. Nazmul Islam, attended the sessions as an observer and shared perspectives on the future trajectory of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Ambassador Nazmul Islam said he has been closely following China’s modernization drive, especially the progress made under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). He noted that both countries remain committed to strengthening collaboration in connectivity, infrastructure development and modernization.

During the discussions, Bangladesh highlighted China’s significant role in supporting its infrastructure development and reaffirmed its intention to further enhance this strategic partnership in the years ahead.

The ambassador emphasized that both nations aspire to complement each other in achieving sustainable development and economic stability.

He also pointed out that China’s upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan is expected to create new opportunities for expanding trade and technological exchanges between the two countries.

According to Ambassador Nazmul Islam, in the current global context China’s key policy-setting meetings carry importance not only for China itself, but also for friendly countries such as Bangladesh. These discussions, he noted, are likely to contribute positively to regional stability and economic growth.
