Pakistan has successfully tested the Abdali missile, which is capable of hitting objects at a distance of 450 km from the ground to the ground. It was launched as part of a training exercise during the Indust exercise on Saturday.
Geo News reported this news, citing the country’s military media wing. Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that it was launched to ensure effective training of the army personnel and to test their technical capabilities.
The ISPR also said that the training launch was witnessed by the commander of the army’s strategic forces, senior officers of the planning department, and scientists and engineers.
Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff General Shahir Shamshad Mirza and Army Chief Asim Munir welcomed the participating army personnel, scientists and engineers.
Earlier, Pakistan conducted a full-scale military exercise near the Line of Control (LoC) with India on Thursday amid heightened tensions over the attack in Pahelgaon, Kashmir.
Pakistan Army sources had said at the time that the exercise was designed to give a strong response to any aggression by the enemy. It involved officers from various units as well as ordinary soldiers.
