Israeli attacks kill 60 Palestinians in Gaza

Another 60 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip, Palestine. In addition, 388 more were injured.

The Gaza Health Ministry announced this information in a statement on Monday.

According to the ministry, the total number of deaths in Gaza since Monday in the Israeli Defense Forces’ operations has reached 54,927. In addition, the number of Palestinians is 126,227.

On October 7, 2023, Hamas fighters, the armed rebel group in Gaza, entered Israeli territory and carried out a surprise attack. 1,200 Israelis were killed in that attack. In addition, they took 251 people hostage and took them to Gaza.

Israeli forces began an operation in Gaza that day to respond to Hamas’ attacks and free the hostages. After more than 15 months of continuous operations, Israel announced a ceasefire in Gaza on January 19 under pressure from the United States and other mediating countries. However, the country resumed its operations in Gaza on March 18, before the two-month break ended.

The United Nations and the international community have called on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to stop the military operation in Gaza several times so far. A genocide case has already been filed against Israel in the International Court of Justice (ICJ), known as the UN court. However, Netanyahu has said that the operation in Gaza will continue until Hamas is completely neutralized and the hostages are released.

Meanwhile, the United States recently presented a proposal for a two-month ceasefire agreement in Gaza. Although Netanyahu agreed to the proposal, Hamas did not agree.
