Israeli airstrikes kill at least 12 people, including 3 journalists, in Gaza

Israel has carried out a devastating attack on the besieged Palestinian territory of Gaza. At least 12 people have been killed. Among the dead are 3 journalists and several aid workers. Several others were injured.

Despite the ceasefire agreement, Israel has been carrying out attacks on Gaza almost daily and these attacks have intensified recently. There have also been casualties in these attacks. Al Jazeera reported this information on Sunday (March 16).

Media reports say that at least nine people have been killed in an Israeli drone strike in Beit Lahia in northern Gaza. Most of them are aid workers. In addition, two more people were killed in an Israeli drone strike in the central town of Juhur ad-Dik.

Another Palestinian boy was shot dead in Beit Lahiya.

Another woman was shot in the back in the same attack, while another Palestinian was shot and wounded in the Tal as-Sultan area west of Rafah city. Eight others were injured after an Israeli quadcopter bombed a tent belonging to the Al-Qan family in the Al-Shakush area northwest of Rafah city.

According to local authorities, Israeli forces have killed 150 Palestinians in Gaza since the ceasefire went into effect on January 19.

Palestinian media reported that at least nine people, including three journalists, were killed and several others wounded in an Israeli drone strike in Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza. Saturday’s attack reportedly targeted an aid group with journalists and photographers. At least three local journalists were among the dead.

The Palestine Center for the Protection of Journalists said in a statement that “the journalists who were killed were documenting humanitarian relief efforts for victims of Israel’s genocidal war.”

It called on Gaza ceasefire mediators to press Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to move forward with implementing the ceasefire and agree to a prisoner swap.

Israel has rejected a proposal to start talks on a second phase of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. One of Hamas’ main demands for this phase of the ceasefire was to negotiate a permanent end to the war.
