On the orders of US President Donald Trump, the United States has launched a series of airstrikes on the Houthi rebel group in Yemen. US warplanes have hit the military bases, missile defense systems and command centers of the Iran-backed group one after another. At least 31 people have been killed.
Iran and the Palestinian Liberation Movement Hamas have reacted strongly to the attack. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi condemned the US attack on Yemen and said that the Trump administration “has no authority to determine Iran’s foreign policy.”
In a post on social media, he wrote, “The world holds America fully responsible for the deaths of more than 60,000 Palestinians. Stop supporting Israeli genocide and terrorism. Stop killing the people of Yemen.
Meanwhile, Hamas has also condemned the US attack on Yemen. In a statement on Telegram, the organization said, “We strongly condemn the US attack targeting residential areas in the Yemeni capital Sanaa. The attack is a “clear violation of international law” and a direct attack on Yemen’s “sovereignty and stability.”
It was also stated that Hamas stands in full solidarity with the brotherly Yemeni people. It also praised the Yemeni fighters for responding to Israel by expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people in Gaza in the face of the genocidal war.
It is noteworthy that President Donald Trump said that the airstrikes in Yemen were due to an attack by an armed group on a US ship in the Red Sea. President Trump wrote on the social media platform Truth, “The Iranian-funded Houthis fired missiles at US ships and targeted our troops and friends.”
