Iran Warns of ‘Painful’ Retaliation if US Launches New Attack

Iran has issued a stern warning to the United States over the possibility of renewed military action, saying any new strike by Washington would trigger a “long and painful” response. The escalating tensions between Tehran and Washington continue to affect the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical energy transit routes. With navigation through the waterway still partially restricted, global oil prices have surged, raising concerns about broader economic instability. Iranian authorities say the restrictions are a response to ongoing US sanctions and measures targeting the country’s oil exports.

Although a ceasefire has technically been in place since April, the situation in the region remains highly fragile. Reports from Washington indicate that discussions are underway within the US administration regarding possible new military options against Iran. President Donald Trump is expected to receive a high-level security briefing on the matter. Meanwhile, air defense systems were reportedly activated in Tehran on Thursday night. Local media said Iranian forces responded to suspected drone and surveillance activity detected in the capital’s airspace. Senior officials from Iran’s Revolutionary Guard warned that US military bases across the Middle East would become targets in the event of further aggression. Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei also reaffirmed Tehran’s determination to maintain control over the Strait of Hormuz.
