In the midst of his public conflict with former US President Donald Trump, Elon Musk made a surprise. The Tesla and SpaceX head, once known as a close ally of Trump, is now walking the path to forming his own political party. Taking public opinion in favor of forming a new party on social media, Musk has revealed the possible name of the party: ‘The America Party’.
Social media voting, 80% support.
Recently, Musk conducted an online survey on X (formerly Twitter). He asked, “Does the United States need a new political party that will truly represent Americans?”
About 80 percent of voters voted in favor of forming a new party. After the results, Musk wrote,
“The people have voted. It’s time for a party that will represent 80 percent of the people.” Immediately after this, Musk sparked speculation by mentioning the name ‘The America Party’.
Trump-Musk feud at its height: Musk spent about $70 million on Trump and the Republicans in the 2024 presidential election. The relationship was so close that after Trump won, a special office was created for Musk in the White House, the ‘Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).’ The job of this office was to reduce government spending and ensure financial savings.
But the relationship broke down over Trump’s proposed new tax and spending bill. Musk criticized the bill as “disgusting” and resigned from the DOGE. Since then, the confrontation began.
In response to Trump’s demands, Musk said,
“Trump could not have won the presidential election if I had not helped.”
On the contrary, Trump threatened him with financial sanctions and the cancellation of Tesla’s government subsidies.
Impeachment hints on Musk’s face: This public conflict between the two top figures has created a strong stir in US politics. Musk has complained that Trump’s new bill could bankrupt the United States. He even suggested impeaching Trump.
There are questions about how much influence a third force can have in the long-standing two-party political system in the United States. However, analysts believe that Musk’s arrival as one of the most successful people in the world of technology and business could add a new dimension to politics.
However, it is not yet clear whether Musk’s announcement of the formation of a party will lead to practical action or whether it is just another social media-driven surprise.
