Dr. ISLAM Muhammad Fakhrul Babu (孫逸仙) is running for the district council election in Hong Kong from the Yau Tsim Mong South Constituency as the first Bangladeshi origin in China’s History.
After checking all necessary qualifications, yesterday, the 10th of November 2023, the Election Commission declared him a valid candidate. He got his ballot no. 6.
Dr. Babu, a business management professional, has long been deeply engaged with Rotary International and doing social work through various social organizations in Hong Kong. He founded organizations such as the China-Bangladesh Friendship Center-CBFC, Dr. Muhammad Fakhrul Islam Foundation, Asian Club Limited etc. Rotarian Dr. Islam, a Major Donor (MD), a Paul Harris Fellow (PHF), a Benefactor (B) and a Paul Harris Society Member (PHS) of the Rotary International is a Member of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC), the Hong Kong Management Association (HKMA), the Royal Asiatic Society, Hong Kong, The Commonwealth Chamber of Commerce, Hong Kong, The Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce, and Industry, Hong Kong, Hong Kong, the Chinese Economist Society, USA. He is also a member of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), Bangladesh, Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS), Bangladesh, and Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce and Industry-BCCCI, Bangladesh.
Dr. Babu intends to work for the People and serve for Harmony. Like everyone else, Dr. Babu, as a Hong Kong citizen, hopes that society can develop faith and bring the voices of ethnic minorities into the election campaign. At the same time, he is also concerned about issues such as education, medical care, and the lives of the elderly. He proposed the new “Three Principles of the People,” which are ethnic harmony, public opinion as the root, and people’s livelihood as the foundation to serve the residents of Yau Tsim Mong.
