The Prime Minister of Bangladesh has expressed heartfelt gratitude to Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his wife, Dr. Wan Azizah binti Wan Ismail, for the warm welcome and hospitality extended during his state visit to Malaysia.
In a statement, the Prime Minister said he and his wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, were deeply touched by the friendship, goodwill and gestures shown by the Malaysian government and people.
He noted that his discussions with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim reaffirmed the enduring bonds between Bangladesh and Malaysia and underscored the shared commitment of both countries to enhanced cooperation, prosperity and regional progress.
The Prime Minister recalled that the relationship between the two nations dates back several decades to the period when his father, Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, served as President of Bangladesh and his mother, Begum Khaleda Zia, served as Prime Minister.
He also conveyed his sincere appreciation to Malaysia’s King, Sultan Ibrahim ibni Sultan Iskandar, for the warmth and courtesy extended during their meeting.
According to the statement, Bangladesh highly values both bilateral and multilateral relations with Malaysia and takes pride in the strong people-to-people connections that link the two countries across various sectors and walks of life.
Following his first state visit as Prime Minister, he expressed optimism about working closely with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to further strengthen the multifaceted partnership between Bangladesh and Malaysia.
