At least 10 people were killed and several others injured in an attack by gunmen on a village in central-northern Nigeria.
The French news agency AFP reported this in a report.
The attack took place on Thursday night in the village of Rui. Tensions are high in the region following the attack, several local sources said.
The news agency said that Rui is located on the plateau, which is located on the internal border between the mostly Muslim northern half of the country and the mainly Christian south.
This is a state where nomadic herders and shepherds regularly enter the village and shoot indiscriminately, killing 10 people and wounding three others. The injured have been admitted to hospital.
The state’s information commissioner, Joyce Ramnap, has called on the country’s security forces to find the perpetrators of this heinous crime and ensure justice for the victims.
