Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Advisor to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the Ministry of Water Resources, said that protecting the environment and controlling pollution is not the sole responsibility of the government—it is a collective duty. She emphasized the need for active participation from the general public, students, and social organizations. “The time to act for the environment is now. If the youth become aware and engaged, a pollution-free Bangladesh can truly become a reality,” she said.
She made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion with local environmental organizations and students held at the Natore Circuit House today.
In her speech, the Advisor expressed concern over industrial waste, calling it a serious threat to the environment. She noted that the government is taking active steps to control industrial pollution and emphasized the importance of effective liquid waste management. The Ministry of Environment has already undertaken several initiatives in this regard.
The meeting was attended by Natore Deputy Commissioner Asma Shaheen, Superintendent of Police Md. Marufat Hossain, along with students from various educational institutions and environmental activists. The students expressed their commitment to environmental protection and raised various questions to the Advisor.
In response, the Advisor urged the youth to become involved in the environmental movement. “Today’s conscious decisions will ensure a livable Bangladesh for future generations,” she concluded.
