Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa, who is in Beijing to attend the Summer Davos Forum, met with President Xi Jinping in Beijing on Friday.
At the meeting, Xi said that this year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Ecuador. The two countries have been developing steadily. Ecuador has actively participated in the implementation of the “Belt and Road” initiative. The two countries have carried out effective cooperation in the fields of free trade, energy resources, mining, electricity and infrastructure. China has always viewed the bilateral relations from a strategic and long-term perspective and is willing to accelerate the development of the comprehensive strategic partnership with Ecuador.
Xi also said that the two countries should strengthen communication in the fields of education, culture, media, etc.; implement the decisions of the Fourth Ministerial Conference of the China-Latin America Forum; And we must leave a positive role in world peace and development.
In response, Noboa said that the two countries have been carrying out extensive cooperation based on mutual respect. He thanked China for its extensive support and assistance for Ecuador’s economic and social development. He also mentioned that Ecuador is willing to strengthen relations and cooperation with China in various sectors.
After the meeting, the two leaders witnessed the signing of an agreement titled “Cooperation Plan between China and Ecuador to Jointly Accelerate the Implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative”.
