Ministry of Commerce’s Explanation on China-US London Framework

A spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Commerce has recently commented on various issues related to the China-US London Framework.

A relevant reporter said that recently, relevant US officials and media reported that China and the United States have already reached an agreement on the framework for implementing the Geneva Consensus. China will accelerate the export of rare earths to the United States, and the United States will lift relevant restrictive measures against China accordingly. What is China’s position on this? In response, the spokesperson said that the economic and trade teams of China and the United States met in London for economic and trade talks from June 9 to 10, and agreed to a framework agreement to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries on June 5 and consolidate the results of the Geneva Economic and Trade Talks.

After the London talks, the Chinese and US teams have maintained close communication. Recently, the two sides have also confirmed the details of the framework. China will approve the export applications of controlled products that meet the conditions in accordance with the law. The United States will accordingly lift a number of restrictive measures against China.

The spokesperson also said that the role of the China-US economic and trade consultation mechanism will be further enhanced, consensus will be continuously enhanced, misunderstandings will be reduced, cooperation will be strengthened, and China-US economic and trade relations will be jointly promoted to achieve healthy, stable and sustainable development.
