Xi Jinping Orders Urgent Measures for Flood Control

Chinese President Xi Jinping has issued important directives regarding flood control and disaster relief efforts.

He noted that continuous heavy rainfall in various parts of eastern, northern, and northeastern China has triggered floods and natural disasters, causing significant loss of life and property in regions including Beijing, Hebei, Jilin, and Shandong. He stressed the need for decisive action in flood prevention, emergency rescue, and disaster relief. Comprehensive search and rescue operations must be carried out for the missing and those trapped, while people in high-risk areas must be promptly relocated to minimize casualties.

President Xi emphasized that the country is currently in a critical period for flood control. He called on local authorities and relevant departments to implement flood prevention measures thoroughly, closely monitor vulnerable zones and key areas, and strategically deploy rescue forces and disaster relief supplies. The aim, he said, is to ensure rapid emergency response and effective management, making every effort to protect the lives and property of the people.
