What the Iranian Foreign Minister discussed with Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in the Kremlin. In addition to indirect talks between Iran and the United States, they discussed many other issues.

Araghchi said at a reception organized at the Iranian Embassy in Moscow on the occasion of Iranian Army Day, I informed the Russian President about the current situation of indirect talks between Iran and the United States. We consulted on this issue. We also discussed Russia-America talks on Ukraine and other issues. Our Russian friends gave us the necessary information.

He also conveyed a message from Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to Putin during the meeting. Araghchi said upon arriving in Moscow that he intends to consult with Russian officials on the nuclear talks between Tehran and Washington.

He is scheduled to hold talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on April 18.

The indirect talks between US Presidential Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff and Araghchi took place in Oman on April 12.

Both sides described them as “constructive.” Araghchi expressed gratitude to Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi for facilitating the dialogue.

The second round of US talks with Iran is scheduled for Saturday.
