Washington Rejects Iran’s Claims of Heavy U.S. Casualties as “Baseless”

Alongside the direct military confrontation between Iran and the United States, an intense information war has now emerged. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed that its recent retaliatory strikes caused at least 200 U.S. military casualties across several American bases in the Middle East. U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), however, has dismissed the allegation as “false and completely fabricated.”

According to Iran’s state-run Tasnim News Agency, the IRGC asserted that its precision ballistic missile strikes inflicted substantial losses on U.S. forces and severely damaged a CENTCOM naval vessel. Tehran has hailed the operation—codenamed “Truthful Promise–4”—as a major success.

In contrast, a CENTCOM spokesperson flatly rejected the IRGC’s assertions in an interview with Al Jazeera.
“Injuries to 200 U.S. personnel, as claimed by the IRGC, are entirely baseless. None of our ships have been damaged. So far, we have no reports of significant losses,” the spokesperson said.

CENTCOM added that U.S. defense systems intercepted the majority of Iranian strikes and that the situation is being closely monitored. At present, there is “no confirmed information” indicating substantial damage to U.S. forces.

Analysts note that beyond military escalation, an aggressive information war is now underway, with both sides amplifying narratives of attack and defense to strengthen their strategic positions.
