The United States delegation is coming to Dhaka for the first time after the formation of the interim government led by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on August 8. Bangladesh is looking forward to multi-dimensional talks as well as preparations to welcome them.
Before the visit, Foreign Secretary Mohammad Jasim Uddin said, “The arrival of the first delegation (this term) is a great example of the importance the United States attaches to its relationship with BangladeshThis implies that this discussion will be multi-dimensional. It will not be limited to just one subject.”
A senior official told UNB that the US delegation will hold a meeting with Principal Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus at the Rashtriya Guest House Jamuna on Sunday (September 15).

US Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs Assistant Secretary Donald Lu will visit Bangladesh with a delegation.
In response to a question, Foreign Secretary Jasim said that the government wants to move towards mutually beneficial relations with everyone.
He said, “Historically the people of Bangladesh have an interest in international affairs. During the visit, Assistant Secretary of State Lu will reiterate the US commitment to ‘promote the economic growth of our partners and stability in the Indo-Pacific region’.”
In Dhaka, Lu will join an inter-agency delegation to meet with Bangladesh’s interim government.
Delegations from the US Department of the Treasury, USAID and the Office of the US Trade Representative will arrive in Dhaka on Saturday.
A high-level delegation of the United States will discuss with the interim government to advance the relationship between the two countries in the changing political context.
