A US airstrike killed 30 African migrants held in a prison in Yemen’s Sa’ada province. The African migrants were detained while crossing Yemen at risk for work opportunities in neighboring Saudi Arabia.
Al Jazeera, citing Houthi-backed Al Masirah TV, reported that the prison held 115 prisoners and that at least 30 were killed in the attack. Another 50 were injured and sent to hospital for treatment. Most of the injured are in critical condition.
Yemen’s state news agency Saba reported, citing a security source, that there were dozens of casualties and that rescue teams were working to put out the fire caused by the bombing.
However, there was no immediate comment from the US military on the attack.
