United Nations is ready to help reform Bangladesh

Chief advisor Professor Dr. UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has expressed full support for Muhammad Yunus and the interim government. The UN Secretary General expressed his support in a meeting with the Chief Advisor at the UN Headquarters on Thursday local time. He said that the United Nations is ready to help reform Bangladesh.

Antonio Guterres said that the UN Resident Team wants to help you, the recently adopted UN ‘Pact of the Future’ is very relevant for Bangladesh and the incentive financing will be particularly helpful for the country. Guterres praised the peacekeepers of Bangladesh and said that they are very important for us.

Referring to the mass movement of the students in July-August, the Chief Adviser said that this movement brought an end to the brutal dictatorship of Sheikh Hasina. He said, I could be present here because the youth have sacrificed their lives for the new Bangladesh.

The meeting discussed climate change and its impact on Bangladesh’s 170 million people, the Rohingya crisis and the UN-led fact-finding mission to investigate the atrocities committed during the July-August mass protests.
