‘Time is running out’ to save Palestinians: UN

The UN Special Envoy for Palestine, Francesca Albanese, has warned that ‘time is running out’ to save the Palestinian people due to Israel’s ongoing attacks on the Gaza Strip and its oppression in the West Bank. The Middle East Monitor reported, citing Turkish media outlet Anadolu.

Francesca Albanese said that Israel has not respected any ceasefire in Gaza since January and that Israel will not stop its war crimes unless the international community intervenes.

Albanese expressed disappointment over the possibility of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu being held accountable for international crimes and human rights violations. She said, “I no longer hope for any justice at the national or international level. Because you see, everyone is constantly ready to give him the red carpet.”

He noted that many Western and European countries are inviting Netanyahu to their countries and are refusing to accept the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC).

He also said that the Israeli government and settlers are implementing their expansionist goals to seize more land in Gaza and the occupied West Bank and incorporate it into the Israeli state.

Albanese said that the Israelis are trying to dominate not only Palestine but the entire Middle East by exploiting the weakness of Europe and the aggressive stance of the United States.

He said that the attacks on Lebanon and Syria continue; it would be madness for anyone to think that Israel will stop there. Because Israel has made it clear that it wants land from the Mediterranean Sea to the Jordan River, so that it can establish the sovereignty of the Jewish people.

He called on the international community and global institutions to take more effective steps to thwart this plan.

He said, “According to international law, we must end the occupation, stop the genocide, stop racism. But this requires a fundamental ingredient. And that is the will of states, which is currently absent.”
