A 25-member South Korean delegation visited the historic Panam City in Sonargaon. When the delegation reached Panam City on Wednesday (April 9), Narayanganj Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah welcomed them with flowers. Present at the event were Director General (Additional Secretary) of the Department of Archaeology (DCA) Sabina Alam, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Sonargaon Upazila Farzana Rahman, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Manjurul Morshed, Assistant Commissioner (Land), Kanchpur Circle Segufta Mehnaz and officials of the Department of Archaeology.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah showed the Korean delegation various archaeological and historical structures in Panam City and highlighted the historical importance of Panam City. He briefed the delegation on the heritage of Panam City and the government’s steps to preserve it.
The head of the Korean delegation was impressed by the aesthetic craftsmanship and architecture of Panam City and called it an extraordinary monument in the history of human civilization. He emphasized the historical importance of Panam City and the need to further strengthen relations between the two countries to cooperate in preserving the cultural heritage of Bangladesh.
