President Xi Jinping’s Address at the CPC Central Committee’s Spring Festival Gathering

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the State Council hosted a grand 2026 Spring Festival gathering on the morning of 14 February at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Xi Jinping—General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of the People’s Republic of China, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission—attended the event and delivered an address. On behalf of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, he extended heartfelt New Year greetings to people of all ethnic groups across China, as well as to compatriots in the Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese communities.

In his speech, President Xi said, “The past Year of the Snake was truly extraordinary. Faced with a complex and constantly evolving domestic and international landscape, we confronted challenges head-on and forged ahead with courage. In doing so, the Party and the nation achieved new progress.”

He further noted that China successfully met the principal economic and social development targets of the past year. The 14th Five-Year Plan was implemented with remarkable success, elevating the country’s economic capacity, scientific and technological strength, national defense capabilities, and overall national power to new heights. China, he emphasized, is advancing with greater determination along the path of Chinese-style modernization.

The gathering was presided over by Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
