PM likely to visit Brazil in July: Foreign Minister

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit to Brazil in July has been announced by Foreign Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud.

After the bilateral meeting with Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira (Mauro Vieira) who came to visit Bangladesh at the State Guest House Jamuna in the capital on Sunday (April 7) afternoon, Dr. Dr. Hasan informed about this possibility.

Before meeting the reporters, the two ministers signed a ‘Technical Cooperation Agreement’ on overall cooperation between the two countries. Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen, Additional Foreign Secretary Dr. Nazrul Islam, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Brazil Sadia Faizunnessa, Ambassador of Brazil to Bangladesh Paulo Fernando Dias Ferse (Paulo Fernando Dias Ferse) and officials of both countries were present in the meeting.

Foreign Minister Hasan said that this is the first time that a Brazilian foreign minister is visiting Bangladesh. We had a very successful discussion. Requested tax exemption on exports of cotton garments imported from Brazil to Brazil and reduction of taxes on exports of other garments.

In addition, Brazilians have been urged to invest in multi-faceted investments including the production of leather products in Bangladesh, the gateway to South Asia, and in the information and communication technology sector in IT parks, he said.

The minister said that the meeting also discussed the repatriation of the Rohingyas who took refuge in Bangladesh after being tortured in Myanmar and the attacks of the Israeli forces on the innocent Palestinians in Gaza and even on the Western aid workers and the crisis of Israel not heeding the ceasefire resolution passed by the United Nations Security Council.

The possibility of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit to Brazil next July at the invitation of the President of Brazil, working together to combat climate change, providing opportunities for Bangladeshi scientists to work and research in Antarctica Council and Brazil’s cooperation with Bangladesh for inclusion in BRICS were also discussed, he saidlaughBrazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira in his speech praised the development and progress of Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh has made significant progress in various fields including economy. Brazil’s relationship with Bangladesh will expand in the future.

Earlier, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil met with the courtesy of Ahsanul Islam Titu, Minister of State for Commerce. In the meeting, Bangladesh expressed its interest in bringing animals from Brazil in view of Eid al-Adha. Besides, the Minister of State for Commerce urged the Foreign Minister of Brazil to give Bangladesh tariff benefits in the case of export of ready-made garments.

At the end of the joint press conference, the Foreign Minister of Brazil along with his companions, the Minister of Foreign Affairs in his honor. Hasan attended the Iftar and dinner given by Mahmud.

After landing in Dhaka this morning, the Brazilian Foreign Minister paid tribute to the portrait of Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at 32 Dhanmondi and visited the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum in the afternoon.

After meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday, Minister Vieira is scheduled to visit Square Pharmaceuticals and Beximco Industrial Park in Gazipur and address Brazil’s priority areas as the current president of the G20 at the Foreign Service Academy in the afternoon.

Foreign Minister Vieira is expected to leave Dhaka at night after attending the iftar and dinner organized by the country’s top trade organization FBCCI in honor of the Brazilian foreign minister and members of the business delegation on Monday evening.
