In the meeting, NGOs emphasized on collection of funds and coordinated activities for the rehabilitation of flood victims. After the meeting, BRAC Chief Executive Officer Asif Saleh told reporters in front of Yamuna, “We discussed a few issues. First, how to work more precisely through coordination; Second, how to coordinate all those who are working, and thirdly, how to arrange finance. Because a lot of money is needed to rehabilitate the victims. The chief adviser told us he would talk to the donor agencies. At the same time there is an opportunity to coordinate with donors. If we can work together with the NGO sector, small credit institutions and government institutions, then I think there will be a lot of synergy between us.Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam quoting the Chief Adviser said, the Chief Adviser has called upon the people of the country to join forces with the motivation and initiative of the youth to help the flood victims. In response to a question, the press secretary said that the flood water has started receding. The main activity is after the water recedes. Water-borne diseases, food shortages, rehabilitation of homes and damaged infrastructure are needed. The Chief Adviser said to do these things with NGOs.

The press secretary said, “It will be urgent to activate the communication media.” We are in touch with the Army. Talked to mobile operators. We are trying to get the towers running by sending diesel, going to as remote areas as possible, getting electricity as soon as possible. Then the mobile network can be launched quickly. Because most of the people of those districts live abroad. They are unable to communicate with their families. If the mobile network is launched, the victims will be able to communicate easily.
