All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is currently in Pakistan with the Bangladesh team to play the two-match Test series. In the meantime, a lawyer has sent a lawyer notice to remove him from cricket and bring him back to the country.
156 people including Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader have been accused in the murder case of garment worker Rubel. Shakib Al Hasan has also been accused in that case.
Another 400-500 people have been made unknown accused in the case filed by Dhaka Metropolitan Police at Adabar police station on August 22.
Supreme Court lawyer Sajib Mahmood Alam sent a legal notice to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) authorities on Saturday (August 24) to return Shakib to the country to facilitate the legal proceedings of the case.
The notice said that since a criminal case has been registered against Shakib Al Hasan, he cannot be part of the national cricket team as per ICC rules. He needs to be removed from the cricket team immediately.
Shakib joined the Awami League before the 12th National Parliament elections held at the beginning of this year and was elected as a Member of Parliament for Magura-1 Constituency. After that he continues to play cricket in addition to serving as a public representative.
