Martin is the new prime minister in Ireland after the chaos in the parliament

Michael Martin has been sworn in as Ireland’s Taoiseach (Prime Minister) for the second time in his political career. He was sworn in on Thursday (January 23), the BBC reported.

After weeks of political bargaining and coalition-building in the run-up to the country’s general election in November, the ruckus erupted in parliament on Wednesday.

Efforts to resolve the dispute continued till Thursday morning. Finally, the 5 -year -old Martin was elected the Prime Minister before 2pm.

With responsibility, Martin emphasized the importance of Ireland’s relationship with Europe, the United States and the United Kingdom. The Ireland-US relationship is something that benefits both of us, he told a packed chamber of Parliament. No matter what, the relationship will remain strong.

The country’s center-right Fianna Fáil party won the most seats in the Nov. 29 election, but fell short of a majority in parliament. They later returned to the most recent alliance with the country’s other moderate party, Fine Gael.
