Macron Says Trump Must End Gaza War to Win Nobel Peace Prize

French President Emmanuel Macron has stated that U.S. President Donald Trump must stop the war in Gaza if he truly wants to win the Nobel Peace Prize.

Macron made the remarks on Tuesday while attending the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The French President said, “If Trump genuinely seeks the Nobel Peace Prize, he must end the conflict in Gaza.”

In an interview with French television channel BFM TV, Macron explained that only one person has the power to pressure Israel to halt the war—and that is the U.S. President. He noted that France does not supply any weapons or equipment that could sustain the conflict in Gaza, while the United States does.

Earlier, in his speech to the UN General Assembly, Trump stated that the United States opposes initiatives to recognize Palestine as a state, claiming such recognition would reward Hamas. At the same time, he stressed the urgent need to stop the Gaza war and engage in peace talks.

Commenting on Trump’s speech, Macron said, “I see a U.S. President who is engaged in the matter, who stands on the UN stage and says ‘I want peace.’ He has resolved seven conflicts. He desires the Nobel Peace Prize. This will only be possible if the war can be ended.”

Several countries, including Cambodia, Israel, and Pakistan, have nominated Trump for this year’s Nobel Peace Prize for his role in facilitating peace agreements and ceasefires. Trump himself has claimed that he deserves the honor awarded by Norway. To date, four U.S. presidents have received the prize.
