“Little Trumpet” Marks 70 Years, Embarking on a New Journey of Possibilities

September 4: Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message marking the 70th anniversary of China Media Group’s “Little Trumpet” programme.

In his message, Xi Jinping said that for 70 years, “Little Trumpet” has adhered to the principle of “telling good stories to children” and accompanied generations of children throughout their healthy development.

Xi Jinping stressed that, at this new starting point, he hopes everyone involved in the programme, along with the countless professionals engaged in children’s literature and the arts, will fulfil the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, keep pace with the times, cultivate fertile ground for children’s culture, and sincerely create more outstanding works that spread truth, goodness and beauty and are loved by children.

Through these efforts, he said, they will make greater contributions to nurturing socialist builders and successors who achieve all-round development in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics and labour.

“Little Trumpet” was first broadcast on September 4, 1956, becoming the first radio programme specifically produced for preschool children in New China. It has since evolved into a branded programme integrating radio, television, new media and campus radio stations.
