La Salle College in Hong Kong is not just a school. It is a legendary institution that shapes boys into gentlemen, leaders, and men of faith and good works. Founded in 1932 by the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, La Salle College has carried its proud motto, Fides et Opera — Faith and Good Works — for nearly a century. Located in the heart of Kowloon City, the college is a place of history, excellence, discipline, and brotherhood.

As a first-year student of La Salle College, I feel truly proud and grateful to begin my journey here. When I walk into the campus, I know I am entering a school with a great tradition. Many outstanding Lasallians have studied here before me, and now it is my turn to learn, grow, and contribute.
The history of La Salle College is full of courage and achievement. In 1932, Brother Aimar led the first group of students into the iconic red-brick building on Boundary Street. During the difficult years of World War II, the campus served as a military hospital, yet the Lasallian spirit remained strong. In 1982, the school was rebuilt into a modern campus and opened by Governor Sir Murray MacLehose. Today, La Salle College continues to move forward with advanced facilities, including the Aerospace Lab, which helps students explore science, technology, and innovation.
La Salle College is famous for academic excellence. Students work hard, think critically, and challenge themselves to achieve their best. The school has produced excellent HKDSE results, with students achieving top marks in many subjects. At the same time, La Salle is not only about examinations. It also encourages students to develop future-ready skills through STEM education, competitions, coding, research, and creative problem-solving.
The college is also home to champions. La Salle College has a proud record in sports, especially through its strong performance in the Bauhinia Bowl and many inter-school competitions. Lasallians show determination in fencing, squash, athletics, and many other sports. In music and the arts, the Treble Choir, Dance Team, and other groups continue to bring honor to the school. These achievements demonstrate that La Salle College values all-round excellence.
However, what touches me most is the Lasallian brotherhood. The saying “Once a Lasallian, Always a Lasallian” is not just a slogan. It is something students truly live by. Senior students guide the younger ones, Old Boys return to support the school, and teachers care deeply about each student’s growth. In this community, every boy is encouraged to stand tall, work hard, and serve others.
My elder brother is now in Form 3 and is a very active student leader at our college. I admire his confidence, responsibility, and love for La Salle. He has shown me that being a Lasallian means more than wearing the school uniform. It means serving the college, helping others, and always trying to become a better person. I hope I can learn from him and follow his good example.
As a new Lasallian, I have many dreams. I hope to do well in my studies, take part in meaningful activities, build strong friendships, and one day serve the college with dedication. I know the journey ahead will not always be easy, but I believe La Salle College will give me the courage, discipline, and faith to face every challenge.
I am still at the beginning of my journey, and I know I need the help and guidance of my teachers, schoolmates, seniors, family, and my brother. With their support, I hope to grow into a true Lasallian—a gentleman of faith, service, and good works.
La Salle College is my school, my brotherhood, and my new home. I am proud to be a Lasallian, and I will try my best to live up to its great name.
