Gaza At least 15 people were killed on Monday in an Israeli strike on Nasser Hospital in Gaza, including four journalists, according to Al Jazeera.
The Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed that the dead included Reuters cameraman Hussam al-Masri, Al Jazeera’s Mohammed Salama, NBC reporter Moaz Abu Taha, and freelance journalist Mariam Abu Daka. Reuters said its photojournalist Hatem Khaled was also wounded in the attack.
A doctor at the hospital reported that students, doctors, nurses, and patients were inside the operating theater and various wards when the strike hit. Several journalists had just begun preparing to cover the situation from inside the hospital. Eyewitnesses said a second strike followed shortly after the first, hitting rescue workers and journalists who rushed to the scene. Reuters’ live video feed cut off abruptly during the incident.
Earlier this month, five Al Jazeera journalists were killed in an Israeli airstrike on al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City. Those killed were correspondent Anas al-Sharif, Mohammed Quraikeh, cameraman Ibrahim Zaher, Mohammed Noufal, and Moamen Alia. They had been sheltering in a press tent near the hospital’s main entrance at the time.
