At the 60th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, China’s representative Chen Xu reiterated Beijing’s position on the Palestine issue, calling on the international community to accelerate efforts toward resolving the long-standing conflict.
Chen stressed that the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine, now stretching into its second year, has created an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe. He stated that Israel’s actions have “seriously violated international law” and undermined the fundamental rights to survival and development of the Palestinian people and neighboring populations, while directly threatening stability in the Middle East.
The Chinese envoy urged the international community to attach greater importance to the Palestinian question, to work toward achieving a comprehensive ceasefire in Gaza, and to restore momentum for a two-state solution, which he described as essential for safeguarding peace and stability in the region.
“China has always firmly supported the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people,” Chen emphasized. He further noted that through the implementation of global initiatives on security and governance, China is willing to work together with the international community for a swift, comprehensive, just, and lasting resolution of the Palestinian issue.
