He highlighted the recent commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, calling it a source of patriotic inspiration and national strength.
Despite facing a complex international environment this year, Xi emphasized that China has continued to advance reforms, pursue high-quality development, and improve people’s livelihoods, achieving new progress in various sectors. He noted that next month, the CPC will convene the Fourth Plenary Session of its 20th Central Committee, where proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan will be discussed and finalized. He urged efforts to set and implement development goals and strategies for the new era to ensure significant progress in building a modern socialist country.
On national unity, Xi reiterated the firm implementation of the “One Country, Two Systems” policy, pledging support for Hong Kong and Macao to better integrate into national development while improving economic and social well-being. He stressed enhancing exchanges across the Taiwan Strait, opposing separatist attempts and foreign interference, and safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Addressing global challenges, Xi called for the promotion of shared human values, genuine multilateralism, and joint efforts to advance the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative, and the Global Governance Initiative.
