Israeli Tanks and Armored Vehicles Enter Strategic Border Area Near Golan Heights

Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) reportedly carried out a cross-border military operation in Syria’s southern Quneitra province, deploying armored vehicles and tanks in areas near the occupied Golan Heights, according to Syria’s state news agency SANA.

The reported incursion has sparked renewed tensions and concern in the strategically sensitive border region.

According to Syrian official sources and local media reports, the operation took place in two separate locations.

In the first incident, four Israeli military vehicles entered the village of Saida al-Hanout in the southern rural area of Quneitra. Israeli troops reportedly surrounded and searched several residential houses during the operation. However, there were no immediate reports of arrests or detentions.

The Israeli military has not issued an official statement regarding the operation.

Shortly afterward, a second incident was reported in the Tel al-Dreiyat area on the outskirts of al-Muallaqa village in southern Quneitra, where three Israeli tanks crossed the border and remained in position for a period of time before later withdrawing without any major clashes or exchange of fire.

Analysts say the border region adjacent to the occupied Golan Heights has long remained highly sensitive, with any military movement carrying the potential to escalate regional security tensions.

Questions have also emerged over whether the latest Israeli operation was part of routine border surveillance or based on specific intelligence information.

Syrian state media described the incursion as a violation of Syrian sovereignty, while authorities reportedly increased monitoring and security measures along the border area.
