India’s Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi has issued a sharp warning to Pakistan, saying that if it does not stop allegedly harboring militants and engaging in hostile activities against India, it will have to decide whether it wishes to remain on the world map or “vanish into the pages of history.”
He made the remarks on Saturday (May 16) during an event at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi.
The statement came during an interactive session titled “Sena Samwad,” organized by the platform “Uniform Unveiled,” where the Army Chief delivered a strong message directed at Islamabad. Reiterating India’s long-standing position on terrorism, his comments have added fresh tension to already strained relations between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
During the event, General Dwivedi was asked how the Indian Army would respond if a situation similar to last year’s “Operation Sindoor” were to arise again along the border.
Responding to the question, he referred back to his earlier remarks and stated that if Pakistan continues to “nurture terrorists” and attempt to harm India, it will ultimately have to decide its own fate—whether it wishes to exist as a geographical entity or be erased from history.
His remarks come just days after India’s government and armed forces marked the first anniversary of “Operation Sindoor” with high-profile commemorations.
