Israel has carried out airstrikes in the Lebanese capital Beirut. Tel Aviv carried out the attack in violation of a ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah.
According to reports, smoke was seen rising above a building in the Dahiyeh suburb of southern Beirut after the Israeli airstrike on Sunday.
The Israeli airstrike caused extensive damage. Windows were broken and nearby cars were also damaged.
A few hours earlier, Israeli military spokesman Avichay Adrai issued an emergency warning for residents of Beirut’s southern suburbs, especially the Hadath neighborhood.
He wrote an X, saying, “You must evacuate. Anyone present in the building marked in red on the attached map, as well as in the surrounding buildings, is near Hezbollah installations.”
Hezbollah has not commented on the attack.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has strongly condemned the recent Israeli airstrikes on Beirut. He called on the United States and France to fulfill their responsibilities as sponsors of the ceasefire in Lebanon and to pressure Israel to stop violating the agreement.
Aoun warned that Israel’s actions were destabilizing Lebanon and increasing tensions, posing a significant threat to regional security. No casualties were reported, though.
Earlier this month, an Israeli airstrike in Beirut’s southern suburbs killed four people, including a Hezbollah official. It was the second Israeli attack on the Lebanese capital in five days.
Sunday’s attack was the latest violation of the ceasefire agreement that ended Israel’s all-out war against Lebanon last November.
