Israel-Hezbollah retaliatory attacks in the heated Middle East

Concerns have arisen over the retaliatory attacks on Sunday between the Israeli military and the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah.

The attack comes at a time when the United States is trying to broker a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. Hopes were also expressed for an effective decision on the ceasefire to be reached soon. News from BBC Bengal. But after Sunday’s incident, there is a kind of concern about whether the process of ceasefire will be interrupted. Apart from that, the question arises whether Israel and Hezbollah are on the verge of engaging in direct war through that attack. However, after October 7, there have been several incidents of counter-attacks between the two sides. Israel launched an airstrike on southern Lebanon last Sunday morning. The country claimed that Hezbollah was preparing to launch a rocket attack on them. For that reason, air strikes were carried out as an advance warning to protect themselves. According to the Israeli military, the airstrikes destroyed several thousand Hezbollah installations.

On the other hand, Hezbollah fired about 320 rocket bombs at Israel. However, Hezbollah has denied the fact of Israel’s attack on the rocket launch system. On the contrary, it has been claimed that in Sunday’s rocket attack, they were able to hit Israeli military bases and four installations in the Golan Heights.

The armed group said the rocket and drone strikes in northern Israel were in retaliation for the killing of its leader, Fuad Shuker. However, they said that three of their fighters were killed by Israel’s attack. On the other hand, a member of the Israeli Navy was killed in a Hezbollah rocket attack. It is also known that some people were injured in Akre city. After the counter-attack, the situation seems calm for now. However, there is also the fear that the situation may change at any moment.

Sami Nader, director of the Levant Institute for Strategic Affairs, says Sunday’s retaliatory attacks have raised fears of a full-scale war in the Middle East. However, he thinks that Israel and Hezbollah will try to avoid such a situation. Nader said that in attacking Hezbollah, Israel is talking about its own security and the protection of Israeli citizens. This means that the country does not want to get involved in a large-scale conflict for the time being.

Meanwhile, Israel’s foreign minister, Israel Katz, is quoted by Reuters as saying that Israel does not want a full-scale war. However, it has been informed that they will take further steps after seeing the situation
