Indonesian Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Arrmanatha Christiawan Nasir who is leading a Trade Delegation to Bangladesh has called on the Foreign Adviser Mr. Md. Touhid Hossain, this afternoon at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the call-on the dignitaries discussed a wide range of bilateral, regional and trade & investment related issues. Indonesian Vice Minister described Bangladesh as their strategic and an important trade partner in the South Asia region. The visiting Minister emphasized boosting people-to-people contacts, especially among students and academics.
Foreign Adviser stressed the importance of regular institutional dialogues for deepening bilateral relations. Both agreed to hold the next Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) by August, this year.
Indonesian Vice Minister expressed their readiness to explore mutually beneficial sectors for future investments in Bangladesh. Both discussed the possibility of greater cooperation in the fields of power generation, energy storage and energy infrastructure development in Bangladesh.
At the end, Foreign Adviser appreciated Indonesia’s continued support for the repatriation of the forcibly displaced Myanmar nationals (Rohingya) from Bangladesh.
Vice Minister held meetings with the Chief Adviser, Energy Adviser and Acting Foreign Secretary earlier in the day.
