Yemen’s Houthi rebels have launched a missile attack on Israel. The Israeli army has also acknowledged the attack. It said that a ballistic missile launched from Yemen hit the northern part of Israel. As a result, sirens sounded in those areas.
The Israeli army said in a statement that air raid sirens were activated in several areas and cities in the northern part of the occupied territory, including Haifa, Kiryat Ata and the Western Galilee, on Wednesday morning.
The Israeli forces also claimed that their anti-aircraft missile system “probably intercepted the missile”.
Israel’s Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency response service did not report any direct hits or debris in the attack. However, paramedics are treating several injured people as they rush for shelter.
The US military has launched new airstrikes on several areas in Yemen. Hours later, a missile was fired from Yemen towards Israel.
