Germany Extends Visa-Free Entry for Citizens of 62 Countries in 2026

Germany has decided to continue granting short-term visa-free entry in 2026 to citizens of 62 countries outside the European Union (EU) and the Schengen Area.

According to the latest list published by the German Federal Foreign Office, eligible travelers will be allowed to enter Germany without a visa for a limited period for tourism, business or private visits.

Bangladesh, however, is not included on the list. As a result, Bangladeshi citizens will continue to be required to obtain the appropriate visa before traveling to Germany.

According to the Foreign Office, nationals of the eligible countries may stay in Germany for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. During this time, they may visit for tourism, business meetings, family visits or other short-term private purposes.

The visa-free arrangement does not permit employment or any form of paid work in Germany.

The list includes several of Germany’s key economic and diplomatic partners, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand and Israel. It also covers numerous countries and territories across Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia and the Pacific region.

Other countries and territories on the visa-free list include Albania, Andorra, Argentina, Brazil, Brunei, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Georgia, Malaysia, Mauritius, Mexico, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Panama, Peru, Serbia, Seychelles, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, Ukraine, Vatican City and Venezuela, among others, bringing the total to 62 countries and territories.

German authorities emphasized that the visa-free policy applies only to short-term visits. Those intending to study, work, conduct long-term research or settle permanently in Germany must continue to comply with the country’s existing visa and immigration regulations.
