Paris is working for recognition of Palestinian state, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said.
He said this in an interview with France’s RTL radio.
Barrot said that France is working for recognition of an independent Palestinian state.
He expressed hope that France’s efforts will inspire other countries to do the same.
Jean-Noël said, “France’s voice is heard when talking about these issues. We want other countries to work with France, to be committed and for France to help create the conditions for the existence of a precarious Palestinian state.”
He said, “The urgent priority in Gaza is a ceasefire and unhindered access for humanitarian aid… where the risk of famine is real. Humanitarian access must be opened immediately.”
The French foreign minister said Israel’s announcement of its occupation of Gaza was “unacceptable” and a “violation of humanitarian law.” France “strongly condemns” the planned Israeli operation. Source: Al Jazeera
